Local Storage
-
LocalStorage is for storing data on the device and only available on the client-side as it is not transmitted to a server.
The data persists even when the tab or the whole browser is closed.
This is used by the Arc-Calc to store all user entered data like favourites, your name, and custom GB names.
There are modes and addons which might clear or block the storage.
- Arc-Calc "forgets" user entered data. Possible reasons
- Incognito or Private Mode
- These modes and similar usually show no error but delete all local data once the tab or browser is closed.
- Addons
- There are addons which e.g. clean up the browsers cache when closed and thus clear the stored data.
- You might need to whitelist the Arc-Calc's URL to prevent this from happening in the Addon causing this.
- Err-LS!
- This error message means that your browser doesn't allow saving of data
and prevents the Arc-Calc from using it.
- This can be caused by higher than normal security settings.
- Allowing localStorage in your browser
- In the browsers Settings-menu look for Security or Privacy settings.
- Check if you accidentally selected a too strict setting or whitelist the Arc-Calc's URL.
- Some browsers block this functionality together with cookies.
